In June 2011 I received a call from a lady interested in a mural in the Pine River, Mn area, on a 20 foot wall over a staircase, which would be painted on SCAFFOLDING!!!! My first reaction was negative and I told her "I don't do scaffolding, I'm too old for that! " She had seen the Amercinn mural and she really wanted me to do it. Julius, my fiance at the time, told me to reconsider this project, that he would be there to help me with it, which he did. He was my right-hand-man, changing water and offering critique as the mural progressed. He painted the white base coat of the birch trees for me, too, which allowed me to work on another area of the picture. The homeowner wanted a northwoods lake scene, using a combination of photos she had taken in the Boundary Waters area. This mural was finished in 4 days. As with every mural I do, there is much prayer that goes into it, and I know God guides my hands as the picture flows from the brushes. That's exactly what it feels like sometimes as I am painting....that it simply flows. I can't explain it, but it's like I am only God's instrument as the painting progresses, and He is doing all the work. The Bible reference I chose to sign on this mural is from Psalm 111:2 - 4 " Great are the works of the LORD; They are studied by all who delight in them. Splendid and majestic is His work; And His righteousness endures forever." I am grateful for every opportunity that comes my way to paint murals and looking back, this has all been as a result of painting at the Amercinn Motel.
